Home style

"In what style do you want to see your new remodel house?"- will be one of the first questions what home architect or house designer asks you. And average home owner usually has just a slight idea of distinctive features of the basic styles and the differences between them. As a rule, people are more familiar with the concepts of “Classic” and “Modern” style.

There were cases when we were asked to remodel a Rustic house in Beverly Hills in “soft hi-tech style with elements of the Italian Gothic”. The definition of each architectural style sometimes can be very flexible, besides the style of a house is always based on the individuality of the home owner, his/her wishes and tastes as well as conceptual ideas of a home designer or an architect. Sometimes it is impossible to remodel a house without taking into account so-called “architectural context”, that is why we always mind the structure and original design of the house as well as that of the surrounding buildings.

Our idea is that a style is a language for expression of the basic idea of a project. Having been formed during the process of design work, the idea acquires certain stylistic forms. This aspiration to aesthetic object unity frequently leads to a rather conditional concept style.

To make these definitions more transparent, further we give some explanations concerning the basic styles.

What is your house style?

Did you know that we live in the period of eclecticism? By this term we mean the time of new development.

The eclecticism comes, when the next prevailing style already "has developed itself ", and new style is not created yet. In this case your home designer must develop a new home remodeling concept form the old house heritage.

Before we remodel any house we create a sketch of a new interior style on paper. Only after it gets approved by house owner(s), we start working on the actual project.

We offer a short tour through the history of architectural style development.
