Modern style
Modern style, known also under names of "Art Nouveau", "JuANodstil", "Art and Craft", "Liberty" gained its popularity at the beginning of the XX Century. The term “Art Nouveau” appeared after a universal exhibition in Paris in 1900. In Russia, the movement revolved around the art magazine “World of Art”. In Italy, "Stile Liberty" was named for the London shop, Liberty & Co, which distributed modern design emanating from the Arts and Crafts Movement, a sign both of the Art Nouveau's commercial aspect and the "imported" character that it always retained in Italy. In Catalonia, the movement was centred in Barcelona and was known as “modernisme”, with Antoni Gaudi being its most famous pracitoner.
Modern interiors are recognized by plain white walls with no moldings, narrow baseboards and simple window frames. Windows are usually big, there can even be glass walls. There is plenty of open space divided by modular furniture, low cabinets, bookcases or perhaps a partial wall made of glass bricks. Such interior will emphasize bright individuality of the home owner.
